T.Hüseyin KURU as known as “Vidbeat” born on 15/09/1982 in Zonguldak. He started his music and video career when he was 17, in Rio Negro-Argentina. He began music as a drummer and percussionist; he played in grunge and heavy metal bands. When he came back to Turkey he played in several rock bands also made short film scores when he was a student. He was interested in video while he was working in a Internet-Tv as a cameraman and audio-video technician. In this period he was involved into the amazing world of video technology,and start shooting his first videos. In April 2004 he started living in Istanbul, when he was a video student in Galatasaray ITM he made documentary films, short films, music videos, video installations and edited short films for university projects, artists and musicians. He had the chance to show his works on tv shows, Internet, video magazines and university festivals. His first influences were Nam June Paik, Michel Gondry, Chris Cunnigham and Stanley Kubrick. He started Vj ing when he was a lighting operator in the Club Indigo. He met Michael Parenti, Pascal Lescon and Todd Thille from Artificial Eyes.He participated in their Vj workshop and improved his style. From the year 2005, Vidbeat made Vj performances in Roxy,Peyote, Bunker Club, Studio Live, Kemanci, Pulp, Mojo, Unique, Plaque, Balans/Tonique,Joker Live, Aziza, Ghetto, Maslak Venue, Edgar G., Eksi Limon, Kuruçeşme Arena, Solar Beach, İndigo Club, Babylon, Hilton Convention Centre, Innpark Event House, Vecht Club NL and Utrecht’s Archive NL.
Since 2010 Vidbeat works at Galatasaray ITM Academy as a Visual Arts Instructor and Video Artist . Also works as a freelance Video editor and Stage designer.
The first time I ever met (and heard a great live by) Fabio Orsi I gave him a copy of Occulto Issue Zero and then I ran away. A week later he visited my studio with his friend and collaborator Valentina Besegher, a video artist and graphic designer. Since then me and my partner in crime Du Champ have been fancying about inviting them to perform together. The chance finally came and we are especially lucky cause they’ve recently released with Silentes a collaborative audiovideo project called “Hunt Me Tender”. They will present it at West Germany this Friday, 25th May, on the occasion of the second edition of Occulto Fest.
